For the first time, a Saudi model will compete in the Miss Universe pageant, marking a historic moment for the nation. Rumy Alqahtani, a 27-year-old influencer with a significant online following, has been chosen to represent Saudi Arabia in the 2024 competition.
Alqahtani, who is no stranger to beauty contests, expressed her excitement on Instagram:
“I am honoured to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This is the debut of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the competition,” she said.
Her announcement featured her in a stunning gown and tiara, wrapped in the colors of her country’s flag.
From Riyadh, Alqahtani has already made a name for herself in international pageants, including a recent event in Malaysia.
Her upcoming appearance at Miss Universe is seen as a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s cultural progress and increasing global influence.
Alqahtani’s participation is expected to be an inspiration to women in her region and around the world.
