Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in Gulberg, Pakistan, has been invited to visit Saudi Arabia with her family as a royal guest. This is in recognition of her bravery and professionalism in rescuing a woman from a violent crowd in Lahore’s Achhra Market.
According to The News and Geo, a source close to the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, said that he personally conveyed this offer to ASP Naqvi when he hosted her at the Saudi embassy. He praised her courage and dedication to her duty and said that the Saudi government would cover the expenses of her trip.
The Saudi ambassador also commended ASP Naqvi for handling a tense situation with calmness and skill.
ASP Naqvi had also met with the chief of army staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters a day before. Gen Munir appreciated the important role of Pakistani women in all fields of life. He said, “Since independence, Pakistani women have distinguished themselves at home and abroad, by their talent, tenacity, and commitment.”
The inspector general of police (IGP) has also recommended ASP Naqvi for the Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal (QPM), the highest police award in Pakistan.
